Timothy Uglow

TIMOTHY UGLOW began his musical career at Wells Cathedral, first as a Chorister, and then as school organist. After leaving Wells, he spent a year as Organ Scholar at Salisbury Cathedral, and was then appointed Organ Scholar of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he also read music. His work with Caius choir included four commercial CD recordings, two BBC Radio 3 live broadcasts of choral evensong, and tours to the US, Greece, Italy and Switzerland. After graduating in 2000, Timothy became Organ Scholar at Canterbury Cathedral, a post combined with teaching duties at The King's School, and also studied for the Post-Graduate Certificate in Education at Canterbury Christ Church University College.

Since September 2001, Timothy has held the post of Organist and Head of Academic Music at Cranleigh School, Surrey. Having gained awards at the 1995 and 1996 Oundle International Summer Schools, Timothy has given many solo recitals around the country. In his capacity as a continuo player (both harpsichord and organ) he has appeared with The Sinfonietta, New London Sinfonia and the Britten Sinfonia as well as many other ensembles. He currently directs Cranleigh and Holmbury St Mary choral societies (with whom he has recently made two CDs) and leads an active freelance career as an organist and choral director. Since 1998 he has been the assistant director of two courses at the Canford Summer School of Music with Nigel Perrin and Jeremy Jackman and he has recently been appointed as a tutor of the Jennifer Bate Organ Academy specialising in North German Baroque Repertoire and Basso Continuo playing.
